Russian prison service says Ukrainian pilot Savchenko is in satisfactory condition

Ukrainian military pilot Nadezhda Savchenko, who has been on hunger strike for more than two months in a Russian jail, is "in satisfactory condition", Russia's federal penitentiary service (FSIN) said on Friday.
Savchenko, 33, was imprisoned on charges of aiding the killing of two Russian journalists in east Ukraine last year.
On Thursday, a member of the Kremlin's human rights council said the health of the hunger-striking pilot had deteriorated significantly and she "can die within days".
In an appeal published on the council's website, Yelena Masyuk, who visited Savchenko in jail, said: "Over the past days her health sharply deteriorated."
"She's now experiencing serious problems with her internal organs," Masyuk said, noting that Savchenko started to decline glucose injections which had been her main nourishment lately.
"Savchenko’s current condition is assessed as stable and satisfactory," FSIN said, adding that the Ukrainian had been under the watchful care of physicians and received supporting therapy since she went on hunger strike in early December.
