Russia’s Uran combat robotic system passes field testing

Russia's multifunctional robotic systems of the Uran family have successfully passed complex army field testing, a Russian defense industry source told TASS on Thursday.

"The multifunctional combat robotic systems of the Uran family have successfully passed tests at the Rayevsky range (Novorossiysk) of the Southern Military District," the source said.
He said that the current robotic systems’ test at the Rayevsky range was conducted within units, not singly as in previous tests of the fighting robots.

"The Rayevsky range tests included engineer terrain intelligence and long-range target engagement drills with the use of a variety of weapons systems: machine guns and automatic cannons. At the final stage of the tests, the military robots drilled firing antitank guided missiles at armored vehicles," said the source.

He said that the operators controlled the robotic systems from a secured command post located at a safe distance from the field.

"The combat robotic systems’ operators have successfully hit all the designated targets," the source said.
