Saudi Arabia regrets Geneva II failure

The Saudi government regretted the Geneva II conference's failure to achieve concrete results that would alleviate suffering of the Syrian people, blaming the Damascus regime for the collapse of negotiations. The Saudi position came few days after UN-Arab League Special Evnoy to Syrian Lakhdar Brahimi apologized for the Syrian people for lack of progress in negotiations between the government and opposition. The Saudi government, in a statement following its meeting that was cited by official news agency (SPA), said the Syrian regime's stubbornness resulted in the failure to implement the Geneva I communique, which was adopted in July 2012. It, meanwhile, expressed keenness to develop relations with Lebanon, and hoped the formation of the new government contribute to the stability and prosperity of the country.
