Saudi king, Obama review regional developments

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and President Barack Obama of the United States has reviewed bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest developments in the region, the Saudi news agency (SPA) said.

During the phone call Monday, the US president welcomed receiving Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdul Aziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, at the Camp David Summit - on behalf of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, due to preoccupation of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques with the humanitarian truce in Yemen and the opening of King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Works, wishing success to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques' efforts and the kingdom's efforts to deliver assistance to the Yemeni people, SPA reported.

The two leaders looked forward to achieving positive results at Camp David summit leading to a quantum leap in the relations between Gulf Cooperation Council countries the United States of America, SPA said.

The two leaders also expressed hope that the 5 +1 talks with Iran will lead to preventing it from obtaining nuclear weapons.

President Barack Obama reiterated the United States' commitment to defending the security of the Kingdom from any external aggression.

The two leaders looked forward to meeting soon for consultation and coordination over issues of common concern.

During their call, the two leaders noted the strength and depth of the strategic and historical relations between the two countries since the historic meeting that took place between King Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman and President Franklin D. Roosevelt and their keenness to do more work to bolster them in all fields.
