Saudi minister of justice addresses the Internatioanl conference on intellectual property rights in London

Minister of Justice Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkareem Al-Issa, who is also Chairman of the Arab Justice Ministers Council, said today that the intellectual property right is among the most violated in today's world and that intellectual piracy is the most obstructing to innovation. Addressing the Internatioanl Conference on Intellectual Property Rights which was held in London recently, the minster, who led a powerful Saudi delegation, said the piracy on individual and group intellectual properties is among the fiercest in some countries, particularly the border ones who shut an eye to the flow of goods and classified products, a crime that surpasses robbery, fraud and disguise. Al-Issa also noted that there is a legal gap and there is a lack of a strong judiciary system in this regard. He drew the attention that Saudi Arabia has more than a decade ago issued new systems and updated the then current systems to protect the intellectual property rights according to Islamic Sharia law.
