SCER's head partakes in national events in India

Head of the Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) Judge Mohammed al-Hakimi participated in the 65th Republic Day's celebration held in New Delhi on Sunday. Moreover, SCER's head has also taken part in the annual celebration organized on Saturday by the Election Commission of India on the occasion of the 4th National Voters' Day. In the opening session, which was attended by India's President Pranab Mukherjee, a number of Indian ministers and officials and heads of election commissions in many countries, many speeches were delivered, expressing the importance of the celebration of the Indian National Voters' Day that reflects the well-established democratic aspect of India. The speeches pointed to the importance of the elections when held on democratic concrete and honest bases, and to the pivotal role played by elections in the Indian life. Al-Hakimi hailed the high level India has reached in the electoral field, saying that" nowadays, India has become one of the countries that manufacture the electoral-used technology. India's respect for its voters' will and for the democratic approach rank it high among the democratic countries over the world, SCER's head said, adding that Indian eligible citizens, who reach the legal age, are granted the electoral card every year on this day.
