Senate President Taher Masri received Thursday President of the Republic of Cyprus Demetris Christofias and his accompanying delegation. Masri pointed the close ties between Jordan and Cyprus, stressing Jordan's desire to bolster cooperation with Cyprus, especially parliamentary cooperation. He reviewed the gradual and peaceful reform process pursued by Jordan in various fields and the progress it achieved, stressing the importance of the role of Cyprus, which currently chairs the Council of the European Union, in supporting the reform and development process in Jordan. The meeting touched on ways to develop cooperation, particularly in parliamentary domains, as well as enhancing cooperation between Jordan and the European Union, in addition to the role of Cyprus in the European Union to push efforts to achieve peace and security in the Middle East. President Christofias and his wife arrived in Amman on Wednesday in a three-day official visit, which is the first by the president to the kingdom.
