Seoul demands Tokyo delete video clip on Dokdo claim

South Korea demanded Friday that Japan delete a video clip posted on a Japanese government website that claims Seoul’s easternmost islets of Dokdo as its territory, saying the neighbor should face up to the truth. The demand came a day after Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted the two-minute English-language video footage on its official website and the video sharing site YouTube. “(South Korea) strongly protests the Japanese foreign ministry’s production and Internet spread of the video clip,” South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Cho Tai-young said in a briefing. “We sternly demand the Japanese government immediately delete the video footage once again.” The spokesman said Seoul has previously denounced the country for posting a similar video clip in Japanese on YouTube last month and urged the country to delete it. Japan did not respond to the request and has not deleted the first video. “I repeat the call once again to the Japanese government to face up to the truth. It’s regretful that the country closes its ears to such truth, it will do no good to Japan,” Cho was quoted by South Korean news agency (Yonhap) as saying.
