Seoul, Palestine FMs hold talks in Seoul

South Korea's foreign minister met with his Palestinian counterpart in Seoul on Friday to discuss the Israel-Palestine conflict and security issues on the Korean Peninsula, Yonhap quoted officials as saying.
Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se held talks with Palestine's top diplomat Riyad al-Maliki, during which they discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation and touched on global issues, according to Seoul's foreign ministry.
Maliki arrived in Seoul on Thursday for a five-day stay in his first visit to South Korea since 2010. His itinerary includes a visit to the truce village of Panmunjeom on the border with North Korea this weekend.
Yun visited Palestine on his regional trip to the Middle East in December. At that time, he held talks with Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah to exchange views on reconstruction in the Gaza Strip and the political situation in Northeast Asia and the Middle East.
The two sides signed a US$7 million project to set up an institute that will help train public servants in Palestine.
South Korea set up a representative office in Palestine in August for the first time. Previously, Seoul diplomats had not been stationed in the country and instead dually worked with Israel and Palestine.
