Shaath calls on Germany to recognise Palestinian state

The stability and security of the region will only be achieved through putting an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories and establishing a Palestinian state, said a Palestinian official on Monday.

Dr Nabil Shaath, a member of the Central Committee of Fatah movement and General Commissioner of International Relations at the movement, called during a meeting with a German parliamentary delegation on Germany to recognize the Palestinian statehood in line with the resolutions of the European summit in Berlin in 1999.

The Palestinian official called for a greater European role in the Middle East peace process and also called for pressuring Israel to end its occupation of the Palestinian territories.
