Assistant Undersecretary for Arab, Afro-Asian and Organisations Affairs at the Foreign Affairs Ministry Dr. Shaikha Rana bint Isa Al Khalifa led the kingdom's delegation to the High Level Political Meeting (HLPM) of the Proliferation Security Initiative (the PSI), held here on May 27 and 28 marking PSI's 10th anniversary. Representatives of 81 countries, out of the 111 member states, took part in the meeting. During a dinner banquet hosted by Poland's Undersecretary for Security Policies Boguslaw Winid in honour of participating delegations, Acting U.S. Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Ms. Rose Gottemoeller lauded the Kingdom of Bahrain's efforts regarding the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The HLPM approved the joint political statements re-affirming PSI's principles calling for non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and assurance that they are not delivered to terrorist groups. It is to be noted that Bahrain joined PSI in 2006.
