Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani , who is also chairman of the Arab Ministerial Committee on the Syrian crisis, presided over the expanded meeting of the Syrian opposition , held at the Sheraton Doha Hotel here on Thursday . Their excellencies the foreign ministers of the “Friends of Syria Group” countries , the Arab League Secretary General Dr. Nabil Al Arabi , the GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdul Latif Bin Rashid As-Zayani as well as the representatives of the Arab Minisrterial Committee member states attended the meeting. HE Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jabor Al Thani, in his keynote opening address , urged the several parties of the Syrian opposition to unify their ranks and place the interests of the homeland and the Syrian people above all any personal interests . HE the Prime Minister asserted that the historical responsibility laid on the Syrian opposition makes it incumbent on the opposition to unify its ranks for the interest of the Syrian people first and for all . HE the Premier and Foreign Minister also reinterated the need to rally efforts of all spectra of the syrian opposition to undermine and meet all challenges of such a sensitive phase syria is now passing and afterwards. It is noted that “Friends of Syria Group” countries support the Syrian opposition and seek to ratchet up pressure on the al-Assad regime.
