Shoukry to leave for New York over detainees in Libya

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will leave for New York in the coming two days to hold meetings with the United Nations chief and members of the UN Security Council.
Shoukry will tackle with them the issue of Egyptian abductees in Libya and the security and political situation there which threatens international security and peace, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Aati.
He will then head for Washington to participate in a summit on terrorism that was called by the American president to put forward Egypt's vision on terrorism and means to combat terrorist organizations, the spokesman said.
He will also have meetings with participating foreign ministers on the issue and the crisis of Egyptians kidnapped in Libya, he added.
President Abdel Fattah El Sisi had assigned the foreign minister to lead intensive diplomatic efforts to follow up the Egyptian abductees' crisis.
Shoukry had phoned several Arab and foreign ministers on the issue.
