Singapore's PM launches new police operations command centre

Singapore's new Police Operations Command Center (POCC) was launched by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong on Monday.
In a Facebook post on Monday evening, Lee said POCC works as the new nerve center of the Singapore Police Force. POCC monitors events big and small, including taking 999 calls, and coordinates the police response to them.
"Our police officers don't carry little black notebooks around any more," said Lee, noting that they are equipped with IT and 3G comms, which are linked to the POCC.
At the center, Lee and Deputy Prime Minster and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean saw the new camera police officers will wear on duty. They also saw officers monitoring CCTVs at Clarke Quay and Orchard Towers "so that the police can respond quickly to any incident".
Lee said he deeply appreciate police officers' efforts to keep Singapore safe.
