Singapore's ruling party, opposition prepare for Nomination Day

Singapore's ruling People's Action Party (PAP) has unveiled its full slate of candidates to contest the upcoming general election.

PAP has gradually revealed the slate of 89 candidates since Aug. 12, and a total of 24 new candidates have been introduced.

Singapore's Prime Minister, also PAP's Secretary-General Lee Hsien Loong has called the upcoming election as one "to seek a fresh and strong mandate from the people."

The opposition Workers' Party unveiled its final batch of candidates as well as its campaign video titled "Empower Your Future" at its headquarters on Monday.

WP has declared that it will contest 28 seats, five more than the 23 candidates it fielded in General Election 2011.

However, the opposition has said they will only announce constituencies its candidates will contest on Tuesday, Nomination Day.

Voting will take place on Sept. 11, which has been declared a public holiday in Singapore.
