President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has pressed for intensified cooperation between Cairo and Paris to unveil causes that made an EgyptAir plane crash into the Mediterranean last week.
Egypt is keen on restoring the flow of French tourists, the president said at a meeting with a delegation of the French parliament, led by MP Philippe Folliot of the Centrist Alliance, Tuesday.
Sisi extended condolences to the French MPs for the death of 15 French victims, who were on board Flight MS804 on Thursday, said presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.
Folliot also condoled with Sisi for the plane victims, noting that the visit to Egypt reflects friendly relations between the two countries, Youssef said.
Folliot told Sisi French MPs encourage the French people to visit Egypt, which he called a distinguished tourist destination, Youssef added.
The French MP also hailed as "pivotal" the role played by Egypt in the fight against terrorism, the presidential spokesman further said.
Egypt's stability is integral to Europe's own, Youssef quoted Folliot as having said.
Sisi, for his part, stressed the need to intensify world efforts to fight terrorist groups, Youssef said, adding that Folliot was pleased with Egypt's vision to comprehensively fight terrorism that does not depend solely on the military aspect, but also on reducing poverty, upgrading education and empowering women.
Sisi praised the effective role played by Egyptian women at the social and political levels, the presidential spokesman added.
