Sisi discusses cooperation domains with Uruguay, Serbia

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Sunday Uruguayan President José Mujica, said Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef.

During the meeting, Sisi reviewed the latest developments that took place in Egypt over the past few years, noting that the Egyptian people revolted to maintain their identity and culture against any attempts to drag the country into extremism and hard-line thoughts.

Sisi also highlighted Egypt's plans to continue with the future roadmap plan approved by Egypt's national powers in the wake of the June 30 revolution, noting that the parliamentary elections will be held in the coming two months.

The president also shed light on the promising strategic program which is being carried out by Egypt at the political, economic and social levels.

Sisi also reviewed the national projects which are being carried out by Egypt, including the Suez Canal development project, which has vast investment opportunities that could be seized by Uruguay, especially the logistic services project.

The Uruguayan president, for his part showed his country's interest in following up the latest developments in Egypt, asserting his country's confidence in the wise leadership of Egypt and its ability to achieve the hopes and aspirations of the Egyptian people.

The Uruguayan president also said his country is deeply interested in investing in Egypt, especially with its vast experience in the logistics services which made it a center for Mercosur, the Common Market of the South America bloc.

Presidential Spokesman Ambassador Alaa Youssef said the two sides agreement on enhancing consultations in the regional and international issues of common interest as part of the UN Security Council as Egypt and Uruguay are nominated to attain the non-permanent membership of the UNSC for 2015/2016.

Sisi also underlined the importance of Arab-Latin cooperation and voiced hope over continuing consultations between the two countries through South-East Asian Summit 2015 which will be hosted by Riyadh in November 2015.

Sisi also met with Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić as they asserted the historic and strong ties binding the two countries.

The Serbian president tackled the refugees crisis which has recently affected Europe, noting that his country is seeking to find solutions for this humanitarian crisis.

Sisi, for his part, said the refugees crisis is the direct outcome of the problems suffered by the Middle East countries which are in need of final political solutions to achieve security and development and encourage their citizens to return to them.

The two presidents agreed on the importance of intensifying cooperation between the two countries in the coming phase to achieve mutual interests
