Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed that the Egyptian government is about to carry out an integrated plan to develop education but it will take years to see its fruits, Egyptian Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said.
During his meeting with members of Business Council for American Security, Sisi stressed that change efforts in Egypt are real and honest and that unprecedented steps are being taken in different sectors.
The Business Council for American Security is a non-governmental American organization grouping representatives of the US business community who are interested in political and security issues.
Sisi reviewed developments that took place in Egypt over the past few years, including the implementation of the roadmap plan that was completed with the formation of the parliament to carry out its legislative and monitoring role.
He also talked about government efforts over the past two years to restore security and stability despite regional tensions as well as sacrifices by Egyptian sons to fight terrorism.
He underlined the importance of not differentiating between terrorist organizations because they all originate from the same extremist source, calling for adopting a comprehensive strategy to combat terrorism.
On the economic level, the Egyptian president reviewed efforts by the government to develop economy as well as the outlines of the ambitious Egyptian reform program that aims at addressing budget deficit, a matter that forced the government to take tough decisions, including reducing state subsidy.
He talked about the current national projects in the infrastructure sector and the Suez Canal Corridor.
Sisi made clear that all measures taken by the government to achieve economic development come at a time tensions flash across the region which requires rallying international efforts to reach political settlements to the ongoing regional crises.
He said the agreement with the International Monetary Fund mirrors the confidence of international monetary institutions in the Egyptian economic reform program, stressing that Egypt's ability to address its economic challenges will certainly have positive effects on the stability of the situation in the Middle East which is very strategic to the US.
About the possibility of reaching peace between the Palestinians and Israelis, he said there is a real chance now to revive the peace process and reach a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, referring to efforts exerted by Egypt in cooperation with international partners in this regard.
