President Abdel Fattah El Sisi hailed Togo's intention to host AU Summit on Maritime Security, which is due to be held in October, 2016.
This came during President Sisi's meeting on Sunday with Togolese president Faure Gnassingbe at the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis.
Sisi held a meeting with the Togolese president followed by an expanded session of talks in the presence of the two countries' delegation, said presidential spokesman Alaa Yousef.
Sisi welcomed the Togolese president and his accompanying delegation, affirming that Egypt is keen on promoting ties with all the African countries.
He also extended condolences to the president and the Togolese nation over the victims of the meningitis epidemic, which hit Togo in February 2016.
The Togolese president, meanwhile, extended thanks and appreciation to President Sisi over the warm reception.
He also thanked Sisi for the aid provided to Togo in the health sector in order to confront the meningitis epidemic.
