Sisi welcomes new round of strategic dialogue between Egypt, US

President Abel Fattah El Sisi welcomed on Thursday the new round of strategic dialogue to be held between Egypt and the United States on July 28-29, said Alaa Yousef, Spokesman for the Presidency.

During a phone call with US Secretary of State John Kerry, Sisi voiced hope that the outcome of the planned dialogue could enhance relations binding both countries.

The contact tackled the latest developments in Libya and Yemen.

President Sisi voiced Egypt's support for efforts exerted by the UN envoy to Libya to bring an end to the Libyan political crisis.

Sisi also reiterated support for the legitimate institutions in the North African country, represented in the elected government, parliament and the national army.

Sisi underlined the importance of stopping fund and weapon supplies to terrorist and extremist groups in Libya.

As for the situation in Yemen, President Sisi called for finding a political solution to the crisis in Yemen to ensure its territorial integrity.

For his part, Kerry said he is looking forward to meet President Sisi soon for talks on reviving peace efforts in the Middle East.

Kerry stressed the importance of Egypt's role in the region.
