In Iraq's northern province of Kirkuk, gunmen shot dead the district administrator and a passer-by in the town of Daqoq, just south of the provincial capital city of Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, a provincial police source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. In a separate incident, a farmer was killed when a magnetic bomb detonated in his car in a rural area north of Kirkuk, the source added. Also in the province, a street cleaner was killed and two seriously wounded in the morning, when a bomb detonated while they were trying to empty a garbage bin in al-Abbasi area, some 65 km southwest of Kirkuk, the source said. Elsewhere, a soldier was killed by sniper shot at an army checkpoint in the industrial district in central the city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, a local police source anonymously told Xinhua. In the early hours of the day, a gunman was killed and three soldiers wounded during a raid by an Iraqi army force on a suspected insurgents' hideout in the same industrial district of Fallujah, the source said.
