A passenger plane was evacuated Friday at Glasgow Airport in Scotland after smoke was detected in the cabin, officials said. The captain of Jet2 Flight LS177 bound for Alicante, Spain, made the emergency stop as it was preparing for takeoff and the crew and 189 passengers exited using the emergency chutes, The Daily Telegraph reported. Jet2 said in a statement the flight "made an emergency stop on the runway just prior to take-off." "The aircraft was forced to curtail takeoff due to smoke in the cabin. All 189 passengers have disembarked the aircraft," the statement said. Four people were taken to area hospitals for injuries to their legs and chests, and 13 people were treated at the scene, officials said. The runway was closed and flights to and from the airport were suspended for a time. A police spokesman said passengers on the Boeing 737-800 were evacuated as a precaution, the Telegraph said. The incident was under investigation.
