
Edward Snowden’s father said he planned to visit Russia to see his son.In an interview with Rossiya 24 TV channel he expressed hope that he would be able to visit Russia under appropriate circumstances and in appropriate time. “I love my son, I am proud of him,” he said. Eartlier, in a Washington Post interview Lon Snowden claimed that FBI made a vain attempt to organize his trip to Moscow to try to persuade his son to come back to USA. Lon Snowden told the newspaper that he had expressed the desire to speak to his son at least remotely. “Can you set up communications?“ he asked the FBI. The Bureau answered that they were not sure about it. Nevertheless, Lon Snowden confirmed that a couple of days ago he communicated with his son through mediators, not specifying how exactly he did it. Since June 23, the former CIA employee, Edward Snowden, has been staying in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport, where he came from Hong Kong as a transit passenger. In the middle of July he requested for a temporary political asylum in Russia. Snowden is accused of revealing details about the U.S. surveillance services. He was charged with unauthorized communication of national defense information and providing U.S. classified intelligence to an unauthorized person under the 1917 Espionage Act. Moreover, he is accused of government property theft. Snowden will face up to 10 years in prison under every article.
