The current tour by Gaza's de facto Prime Minister Esmail Haniya will aim at maximising the group's benefits following the Arab Spring and the resulting rise of Islamist power. "Hamas was regionally isolated for a long time. Now, the leadership of Hamas shares similar ideologies with other leaders in the region," Hani Habib, a political analyst told Gulf News. "He hopes to solicit help to break the siege on Gaza and rebuild its damaged infrastructure," Habid added. Mukhamir Abu Saida, a political analyst, said: "Haniya wants to confirm his position as a main leader of the Islamic movements especially after the many disagreements between the movements' leadership."
