Cockpit windscreen in the A 319 airbus that was taking the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Necas to Moscow sustained delamination - the stripping of a layer of glass, a well-informed source in Russia’s commercial aviation sector told Itar-Tass Sunday. He thus confirmed an earlier report by the Czech news agency CTK that the jet had developed a non-critical technology problem en route to Moscow. “A layer of cockpit windscreen glass was delaminated but the jet made a safe and secure landing at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport and no one was damaged,” the source said. There was no need to request assistance from the airport’s emergency services. The CTK said the incident had occurred in the Belarusian airspace. The crew reportedly decided to descend to a lower altitude after detecting the problem and completed the flight successfully in Moscow. Monday, May 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Petr Necas are expected to hold talks in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi. Economic cooperation, joint projects in power engineering and promotion of humanitarian ties will be the highlights of the meeting, the Kremlin press service said.
