Incoming South Korean government officials said they will create an "office of national security" to deal with threats from North Korea. Yonhap News Agency said President-elect Park Geun-hye proposed the idea during her campaign. She said the office will be responsible for "responding to national crisis issues in a swift and responsible manner." Park takes office Feb. 25 and will immediately step into a time of heightened tensions on the Korean peninsula. North Korea recently successfully tested a long-range missile and in 2010 the two nations traded live fire after the North bombed a disputed coastal island, killing four South Koreans. Park said the office will be hosted at her presidential house to provide greater access should another crisis arise.
