
A South Ossetia official's home was attacked with a hand grenade early Sunday, local officials said, but no injuries occurred. The device exploded outside the home of Boris Chochiev, the head of the presidential administration in South Ossetia, RIA Novosti said. The house suffered minor damage. South Ossetia President Leonid Tibilov called for an emergency meeting of the security council to investigate the incident. Authorities said they are searching for the attackers. In 2008, Russia recognized the independence of South Ossetia, a disputed region within the former Georgian Soviet Socialist Republic.
