Spanish Defense Minister Carme Chacon arrived today in the Afghani city of Herat on a visit to get briefed on the details of the death of Spanish soldier Joaquin Moya Espejo killed yesterday in addition to the completion of the procedures necessary for flying his body back to Spain as soon as possible . The number of Spanish soldiers killed in Afghanistan since the participation of Spanish troops totaled 98 soldiers They were killed in different attacks carried out by armed groups affiliated to Al-Qaeda or Taliban. The Spanish soldier died in the western region of Afghanistan on Sunday after he was shot by a sniper, the Spanish government confirmed. The attack happened southeast of Ludina in Badghis province, according to Spain''s Ministry of Defense. It said a number of Spanish troops, who are training Afghan army personnel, were accompanying an Afghan patrol when a sniper opened fire at them.
