Speaker of Jordan's Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh met with President of the Iranian Shura Council Ali Larijani in Tehran last night, on the sidelines of the 9th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States (PUIC). During the meeting, they discussed ways of cementing relations between Jordan and Iran. Tarawneh said Jordan-Iranian ties are based on historical and religious foundations and mutual respect. He stressed that Jordan embraces moderation, dialogue, freedom, democracy and human rights, and does not see a way to resolve any dispute only through dialogue. Larijani said Jordan and Iran enjoy deep relations and that his country looks forward to enhancing them in all domains.
