A spokesman here Friday said the EU is in contact with the US on reports of security threats to US embassies in some Middle East countries but noted that there was no evidence of such a threat to EU embassies in the region. "We are aware of the move by the US and we are in contact with our US counterparts. Delegations of EU in affected regions are liaising with US embassies," an EU spokesman, Alexandre Polack, told journalists in Brussels today. "At this stage we have no evidence of threats concerning specific EU delegations but we are taking all precautions," he added. The US has reportedly decided to close its embassies in a number of countries in the Middle East on Sunday due to some unspecified security threats.
