Sri Lanka's ruling party pledges to work closely with China

Sri Lanka's ruling United National Front (UNF) on Wednesday pledged to work closely with China and further strengthen cordial relationship between the two countries.
UNF member and former minister of finance, Ravi Karunanayake, told Xinhua that the relationship between the two countries could not go sour.
The UNF led by Ranil Wickremesinghe won a parliamentary election on Monday, beating the opposition United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) whose main candidate was former president Mahinda Rajapakse.
Wickremesinghe is expected to be sworn in as prime minister on Thursday and a new cabinet will be formed later this week.
Wickremesinghe has vowed to work closely with the international community and seek their support in accomplishing his government's tasks.
