Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Hayel Srour said Jordan had accomplished legislation needed for the comprehensive reform process led by His Majesty King Abdullah II. At a meeting with Sudanese Trade Minister Othman Omar Al Sharif, Srour added that the Independent Elections Commission managed the recent parliamentary elections efficiently and worked hard to implement international criteria regarding elections. “The House has a long way to go as the constitution was amended and this needs amending many laws,” he added. Srour said Jordan is interested in maintaining strong ties with Sudan and is ready to place all its expertise at the service of Sudanese brethren. The Sudanese minister voiced Jordan’s willingness benefit from Jordan’s experience in the legislative, trade and investment fields. He expressed hope that Jordan would support his country’s efforts to join the World Trade Organization.
