Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Hayel Srour on Friday took part in the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of the Mediterranean (UfM) in Barcelona, Spain. The meeting discussed preparations for the first summit of the speakers of parliaments of UfM member states. The participants also reviewed the agenda of the general assembly's ninth session, slated to be held in Brussels early April, where Jordan is scheduled to hold the presidency for a two-year term. On the sidelines of the gathering, Srour met with President of the European Parliament and President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the UfM Martin Schulz, Deputy President of UfM and Speaker of the Moroccan Parliament Karim Ghellab, and UfM Secretary General, Fathallah Sijilmassi and discussed means to enhance parliamentary relations with Jordan as well as projects the union intends to carry out in Jordan and the region.
