
Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Saad Hayel Srour left Amman, heading for Geneva leading a parliamentary delegation to take part in the Inter-Parliamentary Union's (IPU) 129th Assembly which opens in Geneva tomorrow. The conference will discuss election of the president and vice-presidents of the 129th Assembly, the contribution of parliaments in creating a nuclear-weapons-free world, human and issues of economic development and the role of parliaments in protecting the rights of children, in particular the unaccompanied migrant children, and ways to prevent their exploitation in situations of war and conflict. Other topics for discussion will include reports of the IPU, activities of the various committees of the IPU and the Union's financial situation.
