The Sudanese government approved a U.S. proposal to extend aid through Sudanese soil to the affected people in the states of South Kordofan and Blue Nile, Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour said Thursday.
Washington presented its proposal to the Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) by African Union mediator, Thabo Mbeki, with the government awaiting the approval of the movement to enact the proposal, Ghandour said.
He added that his government is eager to spread peace in South Kordofan and Blue Nile and end the war towards a comprehensively stable environment, noting that they will continue to work on signing a lasting peace agreement.
