Sudan has reiterated its commitment to peaceful coexistence with South Sudan and to work on sustainable peace, good-neighborliness, and to build relations based on mutual respect, according to a Sudanese foreign ministry statement. Khartoum also stressed keenness on the implementation of the joint cooperation agreement between the two states and to sincerely contribute to the post-cessation talks under the sponsorship of the African Union High-level Mechanism’s head Thabo Mbeki. According to the statement, Sudan said the implementation of the agreement should be comprehensive, coordinated and unconditional, urging South Sudan to take practical steps to fulfill its obligations and work on a smooth implementation of the agreements without any obstacles.
