A sit-in at a U.N. office in Lebanon continued Thursday, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees said in a written statement. About 20 protesters from Beirut's Sudanese community parked themselves in front of the UNHCR office in Jnah Wednesday to press officials to speed up their decisions on their applications for resettlement. The (Beirut) Daily Star said the UNHCR was concerned because the protest "unfortunately started to impede regular assistance to both those protesting and other persons." The newspaper said the agency's staff was meeting with the protesters to find a way to end the demonstration.
