Sudanese First Vice-President General Bakri Hassan Salih met here on Sunday with China's special representative on African affairs Zhong Jianhua. The meeting addressed means to strengthen coordination between Sudan, China and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development in East Africa (IGAD) for restoring stability in the Republic of South Sudan. In this regard Salih affirmed his country's full support for the IGAD efforts to restore peace and stability in South Sudan. In remarks following the meeting the Chinese envoy confirmed the conformity of the two countries' views with regard to supporting IGAD's efforts in South Sudan, hoping that cooperation between the IGAD countries, including Sudan and China, would continue for restoring stability in the country. South Sudan has been logged in fighting since last month after the country's President Salva Kiir announced thwarting a coup attempt, of which he accused his former deputy Riek Machar.
