A Texas woman charged with sending ricin-laced letters to President Obama gave birth to a boy born four months early, her husband's attorney said. Shannon Richardson is being held in a federal detention center and had the baby in Longview Regional Hospital July 4, the Texarkana Gazette reported Tuesday. John Delk, a Texarkana lawyer, said the boy weighed less than 2 pounds and was transferred quickly to another hospital. Richardson, of New Boston, Texas, allegedly sent letters containing ricin, a dangerous toxin, to Obama, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the head of a gun control group. She originally tried to blame her husband, who has not been charged.
