A senior Yemeni anti-terror security official was killed by a remotely detonated device concealed inside his car in southern port city of Aden on Friday, the latest in a series of such attacks targeting high-ranking security officials, a provincial security official said. Colonel Ali al-Hajji, a commander responsible for combating al- Qaida militants in southern provinces of Aden, Abyan and Shabwa, " was killed by a remotely detonated device concealed inside his car on Friday," the official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity . The attack took place in Kour Maksar district in downtown Aden city, where police cordoned off the whole area to search for suspects. The official told Xinhua on condition of anonymity that the attack bore the hallmarks of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula ( AQAP). Southern and southeastern Yemeni provinces have recently witnessed remarkable activities of AQAP, as government troops have been waging deadly crackdown on the terrorist group.
