Syria calls on UN to condemn 'Turkish incursion'

The Syrian regime called on the UN Security Council to condemn Turkey after its troops and armored vehicles crossed into Syria and removed an old mausoleum's artifacts and relics.
"This incursion constitutes a flagrant violation of Syria and its sovereignty," the foreign ministry said in a statement cited by the official SANA news agency.
The statement said the ministry has sent two letters to the UN Security Council and UN chief Ban Ki-moon.
The statement emphasized Turkey has not informed the Syrian government about the removal of the mausoleum.
On Saturday, several hundred Turkish ground troops, backed by tanks and drones, mounted an eight-hour night operation to evacuate the 38 soldiers guarding the tomb of Suleyman Shah, grandfather of the founder of the Ottoman Empire.
