A third round of talks aimed at finding a political solution to the conflict in Syria kicked off in Kazakhstan's capital Astana on Tuesday.
The talks kicked off with a meeting between the United Nations (UN) and Russian delegations.
The Astana talks, which have been going on in parallel with UN-brokered talks in the Swiss city of Geneva, are held at an initiative of Iran, Russia, and Turkey, according to TASS News Agency.
According to Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov, the new round of the talks is expected to consider the creation of a working group on prisoner exchanges as well as conducting mining clearances at sites of humanitarian significance.
The first round of talks took place on January 23-24 and the second on February 15-16.
