
Syria announced on Saturday that the talks held by the UN team in charge of investigating the use of chemical weapons in the conflict between Syrian army and opposition was "fruitful". Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said the announcement came in a press release of both the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates and the UN officials, regarding the UN delegation's visit to Damascus last Wednesday. The agency said that in response to the Syrian government call, the UN's High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, and Head of the UN International Independent Investigation Commission visited the Syria July 24-25 and held talks with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Walid Al-Muallem, and Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Al-Mekdad, where the two sides discussed the mission's work in the country.
