Syria’s opposition has expressed readiness to take part in a peace conference on Syria but put forth a number of conditions for such conference, Russian permanent representative at the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told Russian journalists on Friday after a meeting between United Nations Security Council members with a delegation of the Syrian opposition. “In principle, they declared their intention to take part in the conference but, at the same time, they voiced a number of statements evidencing that they proceed from a number of preliminary conditions for calling such conference,” he said. Syria’s opposition has asked Russian to stop arms supplies to Damascus, leader of the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces Ahmad Jarba said at a news conference on Friday after an informal meeting with members of the United Nations Security Council.
