Syrian opposition National Council (SNC) said Sunday it would boycott Gevena II meeting, and that it would quit the national coalition of opposition forces if the latter decided to attend the meeting. SNC said in a statement following two days of meetings here that it decided to boycott Geneva II because of "regional and international political positions" which failed to act vis-a-vis the suffering of the Syrian people caused by "vicious massacres" committed by the ruling regime "and its sectarian allies." SNC voiced regret that the Syrian people were not provided with capabilities to defend themselves "and framing the Syrian issue with the disarmement of the chemical weapons."
