Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi stressed the deep fraternity relations binding Syria and Lebanon, asserting the importance of bolstering these relations and activating them in various fields in the interest of the Syrian and Lebanese peoples. Al-Halqi's remarks came during a meeting on Sunday with Leader of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party in Lebanon, Asaad Hardan. The Premier expressed the Syrian government and people's appreciation of the stances of all the national Lebanese figures and parties that reject the conspiracy targeting Syria to undermine its national unity, weaken the capabilities of its army and destroy its economy. He clarified that the bet on the collapse of the Syrian economy and pound (SYP) has failed due to the government's intervention and the successful economic measures it has taken which led to improving the SYP exchange rate against foreign currencies over the past few days. Al-Halqi affirmed the firmness and diversity of the Syrian economy, saying the government has various options to tackle the repercussions of the crisis in the economic field. He applauded the successes achieved by the armed forces in confronting the terrorists to achieve security for all the Syrian people and restore stability all across the country. For his part, Hardan called upon all honest people in the Arab nation to come to Syria's defense and be one hand in the face the conspiracy hatched against it. He considered that Syria constitutes "the cornerstone" and the last fortress defending the Arabs' right and dignity against the Western and Zionist schemes that aim to take over the region and divide its countries to secure the superiority of Israel.
