Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Alwaleed Bin Talal Foundation, and Princess Ameerah Al-Taweel, vice chairwoman of the foundation, visited the United Republic of Tanzania recently. Prince Alwaleed and Princess Ameerah were warmly welcomed by Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete first lady Salma R. Kikwete at the presidential palace. The president and the prince discussed a number of social, philanthropic and economic issues. Kikwete commended Prince Alwaleed for playing a vital role in economic and social development, and referred to the prince's local, regional and international investments, and generous contributions to people in need all over the world. Prince Alwaleed made a contribution toward the construction of a university building in Dar Es Salaam at the request of the president.Prince Alwaleed also visited Tanzania in 2006 and was presented with an honorary citizenship and a golden "Key to the City of Dar Es Salaam" by Mayor of Dar Es Salaam, Adam Kimbisa, in an official ceremony.
