Teens rescued after taking new LSD-like drug

Two Oregon teens were rescued by an off-duty officer after suffering seizures from taking an LSD-like drug new to many parts of the country, police said. The off-duty deputy came upon the two girls, one of whom was actively seizing on the side of a road in Sherwood, Ore. After calling for help, the second girl also fell into a seizure. Both are expected to recover, the (Portland) Oregonian reported Monday. The teens had ingested a drug with the street name 25I or "N-bomb." The Drug Enforcement Agency classified the drug, officially known as 25I-NBOMe a Schedule I narcotic in 2011. The compound was discovered by lab scientists in 2003 and first found on the street in 2011. It gives users hallucinations, much like LSD, but has more dangerous side effects, officials say. "N-Bomb" is believed to have caused as many as 19 overdose deaths. It is generally sold on blotter paper, like LSD, but can also come in a powder to be snorted or heated and injected, like heroin, the DEA said.
