Thai opposition lays siege to several more state institutions

Thailand’s opposition, despite introduction of a special security regime in the capital, laid siege to the buildings of several government agencies — the Ministries of Interior, Agriculture, Transport, Sport and Tourism, Agence France Presse reported on Tuesday. A group of protesters surrounded the building of these state agencies in Bangkok and demands from the ministerial staff to stop their work. Police does not apply force against the protesters so far. Earlier it was reported that about 300 oppositionists left on Tuesday the territory of Thailand’s Foreign Affairs Ministry that was occupied in the course of antigovernment manifestations on Monday. Rally participants oppose Thai government’s bonds with former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The stagers of the march believe the former PM continues to rule the country behind the scenes, despite the fact that he was forced into exile and settled abroad.
