Two Nigerian sisters and their brother died on Monday from smoke inhalation from a fire that broke out in a flat below their home in Jeddah’s Faisaliya district. Lt. Col. Abdullah Al-Amri, spokesman for the Civil Defense in the Makkah province, said the fire also injured three people in the same building, adding that the blaze broke out in the third floor of the building. The dead were identified as Sharifa Muhammed, 8; Samira Muhammed, 20; and Hanif Muhammed, 18. Two of the injured were identified as Zubaira Muhammad Atiah, 42, and Nada Khamis Suwaid, 45. Al-Amri said his officers evacuated all residents of the building soon after arriving at the scene. “During that process we found a woman and two children dead inside a flat as a result of smoke inhalation.” He said the Civil Defense was investigating the circumstances behind the fire. “We had sent four fire-fighting and rescue units to the scene,” he added.
